Artist Statement

 

To me, photography is not a documentary process. 

Rather, I attempt to capture the colorful and exuberant spirit of the natural world.

 

I use macro and art lenses, as well as in-camera techniques and Photoshop to capture my vision; and I print my photos on canvas and art paper, so they often do not look like photographs.

Mary Howell lives among the flowers in Des Moines, Iowa.  Her work has been published in various magazines and books, and is for sell at local garden and art fairs throughout the year.
